Re-defining Pujo 2020 : Upcycling Pandals
Updated: Oct 12
A Community-Driven Fundraiser Campaign
The festival of Durga Puja is celebrated every year with immense pomp and show. The main highlight of the festival is the boastful, extravagant 'pandals' put up at various places for people to worship Maa Durga and enjoy the cultural amalgamation.
However, with the pandemic on the rise in the country, the celebration of the festival seems uncertain. So, in collaboration with the Multilogue Collective, we came up with the idea of upcycling last year's pandal fabric into accessories and utility items. The profits from this initiative will go into providing steady pay for our workers during these hard times.
All the packaging and design was undertaken by us. The design process mainly revolved around the idea of retaining the elements of the pandal and extending their life cycle. The textile waste that would have ended up in the landfill, was turned into quirky personal and home accessories such as bookmarks, phone pillows, earphone covers, hangable racks, buntings, etc. Working in alignment with our values of 'Zero Waste' and ' Collaborating and Creating ' we have made sure to give back to the community and the environment that is rightfully theirs.
It was a tricky task, but a really exciting and necessary one. We always strive to restrict waste-creation in the production of new products and we have done it again. We would like to thank Chittaranjan Park Durga Puja Samiti (B-Block) and Decorator, Mr. Charanjit Singh, owner of Ludhiana Tent House, New Delhi for donating the cloth used in the 2019 'pandal'.
You can place an order by clicking on https://www.wearelabeless.com/redefining-pujo-2020 . Once payment is made, your package will be delivered within 4-5 days if you're in the vicinity of 5 km from C.R. Park or else 1 week if it's more than that.
